Upper Cheesman and the Hike from Hell
If losing the two biggest fish I’ve ever had on a fly rod wasn’t enough, there was the hike out of the canyon.

This was my first fly to tie out of my Pat Dorsey tailwater book, and it’s a great pattern to throw at Cheesman or Deckers.
This pattern is pretty much guaranteed to catch fish on any tailwater in Colorado.
I haven’t tied flies in years - really since tying some crazy saltwater patterns with my father - so getting back into it was fun and a bit addicting!
My first trip to Cheesman Canyon was a bit frustrating, but the scenery and the challenge was rewarding.
